Oh Well

I took what I thought would be some adorable photos marking Malcolm's two month birthday. However, I think Wyatt must have adjusted the settings on the camera when he was snapping photos of himself because they came out blurry. They look cute anyway.

Wyatt Uses Camera and other Adventures this weekend

In addition to snapping photos of himself this weekend, Wyatt took a shower. This is a big event since for about 3 months now he has been refusing to take a bath. Up until lately he' d at least take a "car wash" in the sink and we could get him pretty clean. However, he's now decided that he doesn't like the car wash either so we've had to resort to forcing him in the shower with Papa. Shower only because that's the only way we can hold him under the water long enough to get him rinsed off with a little soap and shampoo.

Similarly exciting was Wyatt giving Papa the slip at the park on Friday night. We were having dinner at Chuck and Mara's when Papa and Wyatt decided to head to the park at the end of their block. They got there and the gate was locked so Jason started to come back and assumed Wyatt was following him till he hear him giggling. Jason turned around to discover that Wyatt had slipped through the bars on the fence and had entered the park with out him! Jason had to scale the fence to go in after him. I think they did some sliding while they were in there and were luckily able to open the locked gate from the inside to get out. That boy loves to slide! Boy are we in for trouble when he is a teenager.

Tahoe

This weekend we did our annual trek to tahoe to see Mark, Peggy, Chris and Dennis for their summer holiday. Wyatt took his first canoe ride and loved it almost as much as he loved throwing rocks in the lake.

Guilty as charged

The authorities raided Gladys Street yesterday and arrested Wyatt for disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace, charges apparently stemming from multiple 5am wake ups. In a surprise twist to the case, his attorney mother refused to represent him in court and he was swiftly sentenced to time served. Word on the street is the DA is preparing a case against his brother Malcolm for similar offenses. News at 11.

What a Difference a Month Makes

Here are Malcolm and Dottie yesterday vs. 5 weeks ago. Boy how quickly they change!

Grumpy's Visit

Grumpy and Jean came for a father's day visit and to meet the new baby. He brought with him a vintage remote controlled fire truck for Wyatt - which he loves! Here is Grumpy showing Wyatt how to use it. They also brought a stuffed animal for Malcolm - which he'll grow to love. Wyatt and Bootsy appropriately named the animal Holy Moly which was the word of the day after WP heard Jean say it and thought it was hysterical. Also pictured here is the gripping US Open Golf Tournament which we all got sucked in to (after a tie, a playoff tie and then sudden death) and Tiger unfortunately won.

Mom's Group Madness

Here are some photos from the mom's group we recently hosted at our house. Before the group I had a talk with Wyatt about how his friends were coming over and he would have to share all his toys...at which point he told me, "I'll share Laverene (the cat.)" At one point he insisted on inviting everyone upstairs to see him run like a chicken. I'm not quite sure how they all ended up romping around in the bed. But it sure looked like it was funner to pretend like your going to sleep than to actually go to sleep.

Funky Chicken

One of Wyatt's favorite past times these days is to do the "chicken run" and to make other people do it with him. But, beware, there are rules. No flapping your wings like a chicken and some people are asked to not do the run anymore based on (I think) the sound of their chicken voice.

Guy Smiley

Malcolm is generally a pretty smiley guy. It is rarely captured on film b/c I'm usually too busy chasing his big brother around to grab the camera. Today was an exception.

Fortune Cookie

Everyone knows Wyatt's favorite meal is "chinese chicken" - aka any form of salty soy sauce covered chickenesque dish from the steam table at the mall. It's one of the few foods he requests around the clock. And yes, it is embarrassing to order from Jasmine Tea House and have Wyatt yelling "chinese chicken is here!!!" in the background. During our latest take out order he also discovered fortune cookies and loved them. Here he is enjoying a few.

Hangin' with Levi

Wyatt and Levi enjoyed a little t-ball and a little musical chairs while the moms and little brothers basked in the sun.

Now I know my ABCs...

Aint too proud to beg

After seeing a "Thomas the Train" backpack on another little boy Wyatt exclaimed, "Wow, look at that, a Thomas the Train backpack. I can't believe it!" A few days later...still talking about that same backpack he'd witnessed...he added, "I wish I had one." Wyatt has finally picked up on the fact that objects such as toys and backpacks are actually products that he can long for. I was shocked that he understood that he could actually HAVE things like this of his own. Of course, after hearing your child wish for something for the first time you have to run right out and get it for them (actually Gammy did that for us.) The backpack arrived as a gift from Malcolm. I was skeptical of whether he'd actually wear it but so far he loves it and even wanted to sleep in it.

Nice Pitch!

Everybody knows we take baseball season seriously around here, and Wyatt's no exception. Here he is demonstrating his nasty slider (sans pants).

Boys In Stripes

Wyatt got to spend the night at GiGi's last night. When we stopped by to pick him up this morning, he was in rare form...running around with his digger trucks, and jumping on the bed. Here he is with Malcolm doing his best Mork impression.

4 Weeks Old

And already feeling like life is just too much to take. Here is Malcolm sleeping on Mama's lap while big brother screams and runs around him.
