Scaredy Bear

Wyatt is going through a phase where he is having bad dreams and is starting to be afraid of many things. Here are the top 10 things he is currently afraid of in order of severity of scare factor:

1) The "chocolate face" he saw in his closet
2) His closets
3) The "bumpy doggie" he saw in his covers
4) Elephants
5) Moo Cows in his bed
6) The "heater" which is any loud humming type of noise
7) The dark
8) Small blinking lights on computer or car alarms
9) The plastic spider hanging from the ceiling at Aunt Bootsy and Uncle Scott's house
10)Large dogs that look like moo cows

Today we had Alex, our contractor, come and give us an estimate on building closet doors for Wyatt's room. Its something that we've been wanting to do anyway, but given his current fear of his closets and things he sees in them, we are hoping that it will help make nighttime go a little smoother for him. I told Wyatt Alex was coming to "fix" his closets so they wouldn't be scary anymore. So, while Alex was here, Wyatt explained very specifically what was wrong with them (that there was a chocolate face in the closets) and then proceeded to give him a punch list of other things that needed fixing that were also scaring him. By the end of Alex's visit he was basically casting spells and warding off evil spirits for Wyatt. Luckily Alex also has a three year old so he was a very good sport. We'll see if any of it works.

Ikea

We went to Ikea this past weekend. Mostly for the meatballs but also because the boys seem to think it is one giant playground. Fighting the crowds isn't that bad if you don't actually need to buy anything. On Sunday when Wyatt woke up he requested to go to Ikea again.

Malcolm at One Year

Moose man has changed a lot in a year. Most notably our sweet little lump who sat patiently on the sidelines watching his big brother for months is now DEMANDING a piece of the action. And oh what a little temper he has. He is giving Wyatt - and anyone else who stands in the way of him getting his hands on what he wants - quite a run for their money. Top on his list of things to play with - IPhones and Blackberrys. He is convinced that he'll find one in any large purse he comes across which has proven somewhat embarrassing in public. This morning he nearly had to be physically removed from the Carousel at Yerba Beuna Gardens when he insisted on riding in the sled with a woman and her giant pocketbook rather than the "white horse with a face looking up" that Wyatt selected for him.

Other toys that top the list of favorites are anything in Wyatt's hand, anything that is on the table in the playroom (so that he can climb up on to the chair and sit at the table like a big boy and play like Wyatt and his friends), trucks that he drives and goes VRRRRROOOOOOOOMMMMMM. He also LOVES to take blankets off of beds and couches. He piles them up in the middle of the floor, dives in and rolls around them kicking his feet. We call this "making an ocean" for him to swim in and Wyatt has gotten to be a big help in making oceans for Malcolm to play in. Malcolm also likes to climb on to beds and roll around - often times rolling right off unphased. He's quite an accident waiting to happen and we've added Danger Baby to his long list of nicknames.

Little temper aside Malcolm is a sweetie pie who loves giving and getting kisses. He often comes running right up to me when I get home from work and gives me a big hug. He's happy to go with anyone anytime. He loves to snuggle and sleeps with multiple little giraffe lovee blankets.

We love Mr. Moose man and can't believe he is already a year old! Happy Birthday.

The Cake

For those that couldn't be there, here is a closer look at the cake...

Birthday Boys

This past weekend we celebrated Malcolm's first and Angelo's second birthdays. We had an intimate party with family and a few friends. The highlight of the party was definitely the giraffe cake. It was so impressive and prominent on our dining room table that it derailed meals for days to come. Okay Wyatt, time to sit down and eat some (fill in name of meal here.) No, I want giraffe cake! I want cake right now! I only want to eat cake!!!! Whah whah whah CCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKEEEE!

The Four Stooges

This past weekend Kristin and Aaron came for a visit with their two boys Abe and Angelo. Our house was a little insane with four boys under the age of four running around but amazingly enough there were no trips to the ER. The boys had lots of fun together and there was lots of playing with trucks, hide and seek, jumping on the couch and carwashes. Oh and lots of superhero costumes on the part of Kristin's kids. Wyatt was quick to share his cape but was sure he didn't want to wear it himself.

We also celebrated Angelo and Malcolm's birthdays this weekend during their visit. So, no birthday would be complete without our new birthday tradition of a special occasion meal at the Rainforest Cafe. This time it didn't go as smoothly as the first time we went. A few of the kids in the group were understandably spooked by some of the thunderstorms that get the elephants and gorillas all fired up. Wyatt was deathly afraid of the elephants this time and we even had to switch tables because we were too close to them. All in all it was a pretty funny and dramatic meal.
