Moose in a bucket

Moose's favorite place to hang out these days? A True Value Hardware store 5 gallon bucket.

Car Show 2009

Wyatt and I spent our traditional day after thanksgiving at the SF International Car show, "driving" every car on the floor. His favorite car was the big, black Lincoln Navigator - because the step comes out of the side when you open the doors.

Turkey Day

Two turkeys on Turkey Day - one very happy, one not so much. We had a very nice Thanksgiving at Gammy's house with Gigi, Jen, Scott, Brian, Marla and Oliver.

Tahoe

We had a great weekend, last weekend, up in Tahoe. We spent some time hanging around downtown at the toy store, throwing rocks in the lake and playing in the little bit of snow that was on the ground. Malcolm started out calling the snow "Bubbles!" because it looks exactly like the bubbles that come up through the sidewalk at Gammy's house any time someone does laundry. When he finally learned that it was snow he'd stand at the window and point and say, "LOOOOOOOOOOOOK!!! Snows!"

Chuck, Mara and Dottie came up and spent the night with us. The kids all had so much fun running around and playing together. I think both boys have a little crush on Dottie. They were very sad to have to say good-bye to her at the end of the trip. The whole way home in the car Malcolm was saying, "Dottie? Dottie?" Wyatt would reply by saying, "No, Dottie is not here. She is going to her house in her car." It was pretty cute.

Fillmore Street Farmers Market

Last weekend we enjoyed a relaxing morning at the Fillmore Street Farmers Market. Free live jazz, five dollar shrimp and grits and loads of space for urban soccer! We all had a blast - except of course when Malcolm finally beat Wyatt to the ball. The look on Wyatt and Malcolm's faces reminds me of the clips they used to have on for ABC's Wide World of Sports showing the "thrill of victory and agony of defeat."

Moose Tower

Malcolm is a year and a half old! One of his favorite activities is stacking objects. He has no stacking toys but that hasn't stopped him from getting creative.

Other things he loves at a year and a half:

1) His giraffes. He sleeps with all four of them and every morning before I take him out of the crib he scoops them all up and brings them with him as he starts his day. If one accidentally gets dropped on his way out of the crib, he insists that we go back and pick him up.

2) Being chased. He loves to run up and down the long hallway at Gammy's house screaming while he's getting chased.

3) Eggs. His current favorite food. He asks for them at every meal.

4) Hola! He picked this word up in Mexico recently and says it constantly. He has also been racially profiling people he passes on the street and saying it to people he suspects might understand his spanish. He's surprisingly accurate. He has tons of new words - it seems has has at least one or two new ones a day. He is also putting together sentences like "light on" and says things like "I did it" when he wants to do something for himself.

5) Wyatt. Despite the rampant sibling rivalry that exists between the brothers, Malcolm's favorite person in the world is Wyatt. Every morning his face lights up when he hears Wyatt waking up and he goes running to greet him.

Street Sweeper

I came home tonight to find Wyatt had converted the Pooh Truck into a "Street Sweeper", using the belt from Gammie's robe and a dust pan.

Tomales Bay

We had a fun day up at Tomales Bay with friends. We bought three dozen oysters from a road side stand, sat on the beach and ate every single one of them while the kids played. Thanks to Jason our mother shucker.
